About DAWG
DAWG provides a safe and loving environment for dogs awaiting permanent adoption, and promotes their adoption through outreach programs in the Santa Barbara community.
Most of the dogs in our care come from Santa Barbara county shelters. Our primary goal is to reduce the rate of euthanasia in the county shelters by providing the medical care and training many dogs need for a second chance at life.
Since DAWG’s inception in 1991, we have worked hard to bring out the best in our dogs, improving their quality of life during their stay at the shelter, and placing healthy, well-behaved dogs back into the community.
Dog of the Week

LADY!
Lady is a 5 yr old spayed female Aussie/cattle dog mix. Lady came to DAWG when her distraught family with two young children had to move and could no longer keep her. She is a versatile girl, loves playing and exploring outside, sleeping inside, and being a cuddly couch potato with her family. She enjoys going anywhere with the family and is quite the social butterfly. She is very sweet, gentle, mellow, and easy going dog who loves people and attention. She knows some basic commands, sit and come when called. Though she can be snuggle bug she does enjoy activity. She walks beautifully on leash, is great with other dogs and is housebroken. Come meet Lady at DAWG!
