Seal paid tribute to Joel Schumacher on Monday after the acclaimed film director passed away following a yearlong battle with cancer. On Instagram, the singer performed a few acoustic bars of "Kiss From a Rose"--made famous by Schumacher's Batman Forever soundtrack--before revealing that the track was a flop until Schumacher gave it new life. "That song... was a failure when it first got released," Seal explained. "It went into the charts at #60 and dropped to #80-something the next week and that was the end of it." Then Schumacher called and said he needed a love song for the film. After Seal's manager sent over the track, Schumacher called back the next day and said he loved it so much, he planned to play it over the end credits. "That song that has pretty much defined my career," Seal went on to say. "I owe my career in large part to Joel Schumacher. I just want to say I love you, Joel. Thank you very much for everything that you've done for me. One day, we'll all meet again back home."
