Lana Del Rey announced early Thursday on Instagram that her next album will arrive on September 5. While she didn't offer any details about the LP, she did do a deep-dive into critics' claims that she "glamorizes abuse." Del Rey wrote, "Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani, Nicki Minaj, and Beyoncé have had #1s with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f**king, cheating, etc., can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money?" She added, "I’m fed up with female writers and alt singers saying that I glamorize abuse when, in reality, I’m just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world.” At the end of her post, she promised fans, "I’m sure there will be tinges of what I’ve been pondering in my new album that comes out September 5." Last month, Del Rey said she'd be dropping a spoken-word album titledViolet Bent Backwards Over the Grass. The “audiobook of poems" will reportedly feature music by Jack Antonoff.
